Not only Jesolo

If you do not want to be on the beach all the time, you can visit the city of Venice and admire its timeless beauty: the splendour of the artistic and cultural heritage of the lagoon awaits you.

There are also many other charming cities nearby with a vast choice of historic places and attractions to visit to make your holiday here even more enjoyable.

Venice

Thanks to its convenient connections, Jesolo is the ideal starting point to visit Venice. You can take the bus that goes to Piazzale Roma from here or reach Punta Sabbioni to catch the vaporetto, the traditional Venetian water bus, which goes to Piazza San Marco. With its charming 391 bridges and its fascinating 117 islands, there is no other city like Venice. Getting lost in its alleys is a unique experience to do at least once in your life.

Murano

Murano is the island where the secret of glass-blowing art is preserved. Even today, it is still possible to see expert glass masters work in their own shops while they create pieces of art, which are the envy of the whole world. If you visit this island, you also need to see the Basilica of Santi Maria e Donato.

Burano

It is a fishermen’s island characterised by small coloured houses and renowned for the production of lace. A centuries-old art which is still practised today by the women on the island who can be seen sitting outside their houses weaving these beautiful fabrics, exactly how it was done one hundred years ago.

Torcello

The island of Torcello is well known for its important history: before the rise of Venice, it was in fact one of the wealthiest centres in the lagoon. Inhabited today by only about ten people, it boasts an incredible historical-archaeological heritage, great examples of Byzantine architecture such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the Church of Santa Fosca.

Treviso

Though not as famous as Venice, Treviso is an amazing city. The best place to start your visit is Piazza dei Signori, the heart of the city with its many bars and outdoor tables where tourists can sip the Prosecco DOC. This elegant and imposing square is the location of the city’s three most important buildings such as the Palazzo dei Trecento, the Torre Civica and the Palazzo del Podestà, a building which dates back to the 15th century.

Padua

Well known for its sparkling university life and the many students who populate it, Padua is a city which must be seen. Important places to visit are the Cappella degli Scrovegni, which contains some of Giotto’s masterpieces, priceless frescoes or the Basilica di Sant’Antonio of Padua, the equestrian monument to Gattamelata, a bronze statue by Donatello. You can end your visit by sipping a Spritz or enjoying a pastry in Caffè Pedrocchi, one of the city’s historic bars.

Verona

Verona, the city of love but also the city of opera.
A city full of attractions, from the balcony of Romeo and Juliet to the splendid Piazza delle Erbe, which in the evening offers a very romantic atmosphere. And what about Piazza Bra? It is the best place for a stroll to admire at the same time the majestic Verona Arena. The stroll can continue along the River Adige while you listen to the sound of its slow waters in the moonlight.

Trieste

Trieste, the city of Umberto Saba and Italo Svevo. A crossroads of different cultures and religions due to its geographical position, close to the frontier and the historical events which made it a meeting place for many people. The Gulf of Trieste is overlooked by the wonderful Miramare Castle. Other places to visit are also the Grotta Gigante which opens onto the Carso Triestino, the karst plateau located at the back of Trieste. An impressive view both for the huge size of the cavity and for its incredible lighting, professionally arranged to showcase all parts of this natural wonder.
